Members elected to serve Stewarton on South Ayrshire Council

  • Voters in Stewarton went to the polls on Thursday 3rd May

Voters in Stewarton took the chance to have their say on local issues this week, to elect new local representatives to serve on East Ayrshire Council as Scotland went to the polls in local elections.

After all the votes had been counted, the following candidates were elected to serve as councillors for the Annick ward for the next five years.

Ellen Freel – Independent
Eoghann MacColl – SNP
John McGhee - Labour

The full results for all wards are still being confirmed at the time of writing, but you can find vote totals, and the final make up of the council here on the East Ayrshire Council website.

Congratulations, and good luck to the newly-elected councillors – what issues would you like to see the new councillors tackle in our town? Post your comments and have your say here on s1stewarton

Gillian MacDonald says

A shame to see that ex councillor John MacKay was not re-elected after all the work he did the during the last 5 years in getting us our magnificent new Indoor and Outdoor facilities at Strandhead, also getting the funding to refurbish the Town House, the new car park at Hamilton Gardens, funding for Cunninghame Watt Park, new Park and Ride facilities at Stewarton Station.   He should be thanked for all he did for Stewarton which also includes his total backing for a half hour train service.
